2024 Coach(es) of the Year: JTI Coaches!

A bit more bragging about our JTI Coaches. This is what TriMb had to say about them:

This year we are recognizing not one, but three, coaches that were a great asset to the introductory programming of 2024. Coach Dawn (swim), Christine (bike) and Sherry (run) were all integral to the 12 week Just-Tri-It program that encouraged and empowered 22 women to compete in their first triathlon in St Malo.

Each of the coaches shared their enthusiasm for triathlon, and endurance sport with the JTI athletes. They gave both practical and performance based advice to help these athletes accomplish a big goal, and have a positive experience doing it. These athletes not only went into their first race with the endurance to compete, but also armed with knowledge, support and encouragement.

We heard nothing but positive feedback for our JTI coaches. Here are just a few things that the women in the program had to say:

“WOW Coach Dawn is a super athlete and yet she took her time with us JTI newbies giving us great advice, encouragement and comradery – that makes her a super human being. Dawn’s coaching got me from barely floating to swimming a 300 m race in just 12 weeks, that is nothing short of amazing!”

“Christine was a blessing that made me thrive in the JTI program. She just rocks period. I learnt so much about technique in cycling and triathlon transitioning. She built up our self-esteems in such a humble way. She is such an accomplished athlete – and the fact that she spent her free time coaching the JTI Program was an amazing privilege.”

“Coach Sherry makes running a pleasurable experience – something I never thought I would say. Her kindness and generosity were notable. She ran at our paces, told us stories about her own experiences in sport and provided tips on how to challenge oneself effectively. She made all of our achievements, big or small, feel special. We were so lucky to have had her as a coach in the JTI Program.”
