Introducing Coach Christina

Growing up in Kelowna, BC, Christina hated running in gym class but she has always enjoyed recreational (read: slow) swimming and biking. In 2019 she celebrated her cousin Melanie beating stage 2 breast cancer by signing up with Melanie for the Across the Lake swim — a 2.1 km swim across Okanagan Lake — and finishing it in an hour and 10 minutes. Christina swam it again in 2023 in 57 minutes.

Thanks to training at PanAm with the Manitoba Masters Aquatic Club (MMAC) for the past two years she is hoping to break 50 minutes in this year's swim in July.

Swimming more efficiently led to trying triathlon. Christina loved the inaugural Just Try It program last spring. She hasn't yet learned to love running she is giving that more time. It felt amazing crossing the finish line in St Malo cheering on and being cheered on by fellow program participants, and others from Manitoba's wonderful triathlon community.

When she's not swimming, biking, running, kung fuing, curling, or Pilates-ing, Christina spends time with her husband and two teen sons and works part time as a health care data scientist and as a Unitarian Universalist lay chaplain and wedding officiant. She is really looking forward to supporting the Just Tri It women in learning to swim (to misquote Daft Punk) smoother, better, faster, stronger.
